A well-established Pupil Referal Unit in Cornwalll is seeking a Teacher of Literacy for 1 day per week.

Some of the children have learning difficulties and very complex needs making them very challenging and the ideal candidate will remain calm at all times and handle situations in a pleasant manner retaining their sense of humour.

They will need to be able to use their initiative and be flexible and their primary focus will be to maintain good order within the class and keep pupils on task.

Duties include:

· Establish productive working relationships with pupils and acting as a role model.

· Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom.

· Supporting pupils consistently whilst responding to their individual needs.

· Encouraging pupils to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage all pupils in activities.

· Promoting independence and employing strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance.

· Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement.

· Establish an appropriate learning environment.

· Provide objective and accurate feedback reports as required.

· Promoting positive values, attitudes and good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour.

· Liaise sensitively and effectively with parents/carers and participate in feedback sessions/meetings with parents/carers.

· Supervise pupils on visits and trips out of school as required.

· Work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities.
Ability to relate well to children and adults.
