Dining Room Assistant
The Field Studies Council is an independent environmental education charity committed to helping people, discover, explore, understand and be inspired by the natural world.
FSC Slapton Ley is situated in the coastal village of Slapton, and close to the largest freshwater lake in the south west of England. Looking after our customers is of paramount importance and the Office, Kitchen, Household and Education teams all play their part in ensuring we offer outstanding customer service. The management of the Centre is inclusive, with everyone being expected to contribute and having the opportunity to develop their skills and experience. There are approximately 30 staff at the Centre, with about half living locally. All other staff are residential and live in shared accommodation within the village of Slapton. Slapton provides village amenities including a shop and 2 pubs as well as an active rural community within which the Centre and staff are fully involved.
Centre Assistants are responsible for dining room service and presentation, responsibilities include:
- Serving meals and assisting customers.
- Laying up tables.
- Cleaning the dining room and other areas identified by the Housekeeper.
- Washing up/using dishwasher.
- Replenishing beverages within the Centre.
- Assisting with decoration as required.
- Assisting with laundry as necessary.
Contributing to the wider Slapton Team to:
- Any one taking up a residential role will be required to take part in the overnight duty system on a rota basis.
- Maintaining a flexible approach, eg. working weekends and evenings, and time off in lieu for additional hours worked
- Providing a welcoming & friendly environment for our customers and staff.
- Contributing to environmental performance through reducing waste and efficient use of cleaning products.
