Are you a Teaching Assistant looking for a job in Plymouth? Do you have experience of working with statemented students in Special Education Needs or Mainstream schools? Hays Education are currently looking for qualified Special Needs Teaching Assistants in the Plymouth area. 
Your role will be working with a 4 year old child with Down's Syndrome,  behavioural and communication difficulties. You will be working in close partnership with the class teacher, you would be expected to introduce tasks, monitor pupil's work and use a range of strategies to support their learning, behaviour and interaction with other pupils.
 
Job role 


- To assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction of the Head Teacher, SENCO or Class Teacher
- To assist in the implementation of IEPs
- To provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom
- To work with other professionals including external agencies
- To assist class teacher with maintaining student records
- To support pupils with behaviour and emotional difficulties
- To develop social skills and promote inclusion You need to be confident in your knowledge of the core subjects (English, Maths and Science) and we are looking for candidates with relevant referenceable experience in an special education setting. Candidates must be patient and empathetic towards pupils and have an understanding of working with SEN pupils.

- Experience of supporting learning appropriate to age range of pupils
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience of supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs Desirable

- Experience supporting literacy and numeracy
- Area of specialism - core, non-core subject
- Excellent ICT skills
