I have been working closely with IT for a total of five years now. I started off working for a small college (Sawtry College) learning the ropes as a junior technician, then for a medium sized IT contractor known as Innovit for two years as a technician, network manager and consultant before moving on to Dimension Design as a web designer. I worked for Dimension Web Design from August 2008 to Febuary 2009 (when the company unfortunately folded). Since Febuary I left Dimension web design in favour of working for myself. This has been going well but I wish to relocate to Plymouth and have a comfortable, dependable computer job there.

My work experience with Innovit saw me closely managing four large networks. My first being Sawtry College in Huntingdon then on to Longslade College in Leicester, moving to Mark Rutherford College in Bedford before moving on to Albany School in Enfield, London.
I have also spent some considerable time working as an IT consultant and as a result, have first hand experience with many different types of Windows Networks with many different user demands on them ranging from educational to industrial.
Through all of my experience I have been supporting many medium to large networks with over 1000 users and 500 terminal machines. I have an extensive working knowledge of both server side and client side applications and I am fully MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) trained. Over the four years I have carried quite a number of job responsibilities, some of these are as follows:

• Ensuring that servers are properly functioning every morning before the start of the working day and checking system logs to that effect.
• Ensuring backups have successfully completed and running an error report on any items missed or skipped.
• Dealing with user issues on a day to day business in person, over the phone, via email or via a helpdesk system.
• Supporting user issues remotely using VNC, LogMeIn or VPN.
• Creating system and network documentation as well as documenting repetitive tasks.
• Working with all aspects of Active Directory and Windows Server infrastructure from administering users to ensuring that network services are operational.
• Managing a Linux based internet firewall.
• Setting up and managing email accounts on Microsoft Exchange server.
• Setting up and commissioning new domain services and providing infrastructure services.
• Having a complete knowledge of many of the leading brands and technology and being able to recommend new hardware or software to best fit user requirements at the lowest cost.
• Maintaining and diagnosing faults with switches and understanding all physical network structure.
• Using image technology such as RIS, WDS and Ghost to create images and then subsequently roll them out to terminal machines.
• Reporting current projects, problems and tasks clearly to someone of senior authority as well as predicting future threats and issues.
• Working closely with a team of people to reach set targets and deadlines.
• Working in a high pressure environment and being able to keep a cool head in potentially hot situations.
• Working with and configuring web V2.0 technologies from installing services such as Apache and IIS to working with PHP HTML and JavaScript. Also with this using the necaserry tools for working with such web technologies (Dreamweaver, GoLive, Photoshop etc).
• Having a good and well rounded understanding of Search Engine optimiseation techniques and practices.
• Listening to user requirements and being able to apply them to produce a practical, technical solution for a business.

I have also worked with many other applications such as various versions of Backup Exec for Windows Servers, Microsoft SQL server and enterprise manager, Symantec Antivirus, AVG Security, Sophos, Sage Line 50, Sage Payroll, IRIS Accounting, VT Accounts, PrintServer, GFI Mail Security, Share point Portal Services, Microsoft Class Server and many more.

In the past four years I have seen and dealt with a wide variety of IT and people related issues and I believe that using the tools that I have been equipped with from this experience, I can confidently apply for any web design or support role in the field.

I’m a hard working, happy, friendly and approachable IT Professional. I am highly trained and skilled in managing, implementing and maintaining all aspects of a Microsoft Windows based network. I am also very fast at adapting and getting to grips with hardware and software that is new to me. Although it is true I have a passion for IT and technology, I also have a love for walking, rock climbing and many other outdoor activities and it is what I do to relax and wind down. (After all, there is only so much time anyone can spend in front of a computer!) I try to bring new solutions to any situation and I am constantly looking to expand my knowledge. I make the most out of my job and endeavor to enjoy any task that I undertake. I always look forward to new challenges and I believe that in the IT field, a degree of people skills are essential so I take care to develop a good working relationship with both colleagues and customers.
