Au Pair Needed Asap For Friendly, Happy, Creative Family
We are looking for a bright, healthy, imaginative au pair to help look after our six-year-old daughter and our three-year-old son. We live in a large farmhouse in the pretty Cornish countryside, eight kms from the beach. Our nearest big city is the lively university town of Plymouth, 12 kms away, where you could attend an English course very cheaply, and the picturesque and friendly local village of St Germans is 3kms away. You will have a large, light room with satellite TV, Wifi and separate WC to yourself and there will usually be a car for your own use. We need someone who loves children, can drive, enjoys cooking and is happy to keep the kids' playroom and bedroom tidy and help clear up after meals. You would help us get them ready for school in the morning, then have time off until 1pm, then look after them and tidy from 1-5pm, when we eat dinner together. The tidying shouldn't take more than an hour a day and we have a cleaner who comes once a week. After that you would be free. For that plus two evenings babysitting a week, we would pay you £70 and you would have two days off. Flexibility is important. Sometimes we would need you to work 34 hours (with one day off a week) a week for £90. If you would prefer to work for the higher rate all the time, that is possible.
About our family: Our daughter goes to school two miles away. She loves drawing and hearing stories, and our three year-old son is funny and affectionate. They both love bouncing on the trampoline and making things. We mostly work at home (I am a writer and my husband is a musician) and our son is at nursery in the mornings, which you would have to yourself. I would often be joining you in the afternoons in looking after the children and cooking for our evening meal. We like doing lots of different things during our free time: going for walks, swimming in the pool at my husband's father's house, having people to stay, going for weekends away in different parts of the country, including music festivals and London where we have family and many friends.
We would want you to have a good level of spoken English and previous experience as an au pair or at least in childcare. We need a confident driver who enjoys cooking healthy meals and appreciates the countryside. Our previous au pair was very happy with us and we hope you will be too.
